Growing fresh herbs 🌿

(Originally posed August 24 2020 - I've move this from my old site here so everything can be in one place )

I love gardening, when I was younger I use to go to Bunnings and buy plants and they always end up dying and I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. Now that I am a mature lady 👵, I figured that it was because I didn’t love it enough back then. I didn’t take time to care for it or gave it the proper water it needed. But now days I love my plants so much! It must come with age but I have a bunch of indoor plants in my house, they are everywhere when you walk around the home. Green is my favourite colour and think that’s why I love all things green! I love having plants that are lushes and full of life in and outside the house.

I think the best part of gardening is when I get to see the little seeds I plant grow into beautiful flowers or herbs and vegetables that end up on my dinner plate.

(my little marigold seedling, so cute!)

I know gardening isn't for everyone but having a pot of fresh herbs ready to go when you need it is so convenient! You save money from buying a bunch at the grocery story and depending on your recipe, you might just use a little bit and then throw the rest away when it wilts 😥 I love using fresh herbs in my cooking, it adds flavour and freshness to your dish when you want something a little extra 😉

I grow a few different types of herbs outside in pots, I have a main pot that I use the most from and it contains chives, rosemary, thyme and oregano. In this pot I have 1 plant for each herb except for chives where I have 2 plants.

I bought a a basil punnet from the grocery store and I separated the individual plants and put them in bigger pots so they have room to grow. The smell of fresh basil is sooo good, and making a pesto is so easy when you have your own basil plant 😃

I am a bit behind on posting because of work and moving house, so it's been a couple of months since I was meant to post this blog. Since then I have upgraded my little herb pot but I will write another post about that next time 😜 I'm just trying to catch up on all the things I was meant to post, sorry for the inconvenience guys!

But as I was saying, they are so good to use in the kitchen, I think it is so much cheaper in the long run to have them grown in your backyard. I don't know about you but $3-4 dollars for a tiny packet of thyme is pretty expensive 😱

(another pot of basil from the same punnet I separated)

I personally think, that having access to fresh herbs just outside of your door step is a game changer when it comes to home cooking, try it for yourself and elevate your cooking just that tiny bit 😜

See you guys soon, happy gardening everyone! 😁🤘
