Yakitori + all you can drink Beers in Japan

(Originally posed May 5 2020 - I've move this from my old site here so everything can be in one place )

Yakitori - Pretty much grilled meats on a stick

I love eating yakitori, grilled bite size pieces of meat or vegetables that has been skewered on a stick. We went to two yakitori places when we were in Japan. The first one we went to was Yakitori Marukin やきとり〇金 八重洲本店. It had an all you can drink for 60min/90min/120min and you get to choose how long you want to drink for before you take your seat. We picked the 60min option but we should have picked a longer time, 60mins goes by so quick when you are having fun! It has a self-service area with a beer machine, bottles of shochu and wine! The skewers were pretty small but it was tasty. Once again, Jackson never had yakitori before so it was his first time trying it. We ordered, chicken skins, gizzards, liver, heart, grilled rice balls, salt and pepper squid and many other things I couldn't remember. I was impressed that he gave all of it try and to my surprise, he liked it all too! I was so busy eating and drinking I forgot to take photos of them all. 😝

Definitely come back to this place on our next trip back to Japan, the self-serve drink was the best part!

The second yakitori place we went to was near Ueno station, Toritetsu とり鉄 御徒町店.

This place a bit more pricey but the skewers were bigger than Yakitori Marukin! There was a special on the day or time that we went and selected items on the menu were half price so we ordered a whole bunch of food! 😄

That was a good meal, we had a couple of beers with it and then went off home.. well I think we went home... 🤔

Have you guys eaten yakitori before or tried any of the offal? If so what did you think of the taste and texture? Let me know in the comments! 😁
